Amy Benson, 6th Grade Math Teacher

Mrs. Benson grew up in Northern Virginia, but moved to Charlotte when she was 10 years old. She graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Sociology and Religious Studies. After college, Mrs. Benson earned a Master's degree in Teaching Middle Grades Math from UNC Charlotte and began teaching in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. After ten years of teaching in CMS and various other charter schools in the area, Mrs. Benson is very excited to be at Bradford Prep this year! Mrs. Benson lives in Huntersville with her husband, Mitch and their basset hound named Sir Charles Chips. In her free time, Mrs. Benson enjoys reading, creating any kind of DIY project, and hanging out with her family.

Students who have not already turned in test corrections for their decimal operations test must finish these corrections tonight and turn them in tomorrow. Please see the class resources page for more information.

Please complete problems 12-17, skipping number 15, on page 18. 

Homework for September 11, 2018

Please finish #2 on page 16. You need to show your long division work for every problem. You may only use a calculator to check your multiplication. 

Homework for September 10th

Students will be taking a quiz tomorrow on adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals. To prepare for their quiz, students will need to complete the quiz review sheet that was passed out in class today. This review sheet will be a grade. 

Week of September 10, 2018

We will be continuing our study of decimal operations this week. We will be focusing on dividing both whole numbers and decimals, resulting in both whole number and decimal quotients. Students who are struggling with division will benefit from practicing multiplication facts to make long division easier.
