Paula Poorman earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English/Secondary Education from Appalachian State University and completed requirements for National Board Certification in 2003. She has taught English in Taylorsville, North Carolina; Greenville, South Carolina; and Concord, North Carolina. In 2008, she joined the Cox Mill Leadership Team as English Department Chair, Senior Advisor, and Graduation Sponsor; and then in 2015, she came to Bradford. During her career, she has taught all levels of English, freshman through senior - regular, honors, and AP. She has also been an assessor for National Board candidates and continues to score AP Language and Composition exams. This is her thirty-second year of teaching.
Away from school she enjoys spending time with her husband, four sons, and their families. She has traveled to a few countries outside the U.S., but her favorite trip was a six-week driving tour of the U.S. and Canada. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she enjoys reading, sewing, watching sports TV, and competing with the contestants on Jeopardy.
