Bradford Preparatory School

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

We are so thankful for the Patterson Family and love that JJ, 3rd grade and Rui-Ray, 5th grade, took the initiative to send an email to Mrs. Painter, Head of School, to get approval to paint the rock to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

“This is JJ and Rui-Ray Patterson. We would like to do this art project, please. We would like to paint the rock, please. For the month of May because it is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We want to do this project because it is special to us and to celebrate this special and fun thing that Chinese and India, Philippines, Korea, and Asian and the Pacific Islands celebrate. At Bradford Prep, all people should be treated kindly and fairly.”

Mrs. Painter was thrilled to approve this request and the boys along with their brother Jayson, 7th grade, did a FANTASTIC job painting the rock! The words are written in Chinese and mean “love”, “unity,” and "happiness" or “joy.”

We absolutely agree with you, JJ and Rui Ray, all people should be treated kindly and fairly!  Thank you for this awesome reminder!
