Bradford Preparatory School is proud to announce the hiring of Coach Tommy Pavia as the new Varsity Cross Country Head Coach. Coach Pavia will continue serving Bradford Prep in his current role as Varsity Wrestling Head Coach, bringing his passion for athletic excellence and student development to another Bear program.

We are thankful for Coach Bryan Roden-Reynolds leading the Bradford Varsity Cross Country team and we appreciate the time and effort he has put into the program over the years.

Coach Pavia's connection to distance running runs deep. As a competitive athlete at William Floyd High School in Mastic, New York, he competed in Cross Country and Track & Field under the legendary Coach Frank LaBianca, a mentor whose influence helped shape Coach Pavia's philosophy and approach to athletics. One of the defining experiences of his athletic career was participating in a demanding 24-Hour Mile Relay, a test of endurance, resilience, and team commitment that reinforced a lesson he has carried throughout his coaching career: championship performances begin in the mind long before they are completed with the feet.

Coach Pavia's coaching career began at Northern High School in Calvert County, Maryland, where he served as Head Assistant Coach and quickly established himself as a driven, detail-oriented leader. He continued building his coaching experience at Polytech High School in Delaware before taking over as Head Cross Country Coach at Langtree Charter Academy.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Pavia has developed multiple Individual Conference Champions and State Champions in Cross Country. His success stems from a philosophy that combines sound technical training with a relentless focus on mental performance. His programs are not built solely on talent; they are built on a proven system designed to develop disciplined competitors and student-athletes who can perform confidently under pressure when it matters most.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Pavia serves as a 6th Grade Creative Writing Teacher at Bradford Preparatory School and is a Certified Mental Performance Coach. He is also the author of The Last Rep: How Champions Are Forged When No One Is Looking and The Parent's Playbook: Raising Mentally Tough Athletes, books that reflect his commitment to developing character, resilience, and excellence both on and off the field of competition.
