The Board is primarily responsible for the overall vision of the school as well as governance and financial oversight. Jason Darling, Chair
Jason Darling joined the Bradford Preparatory School Board in March 2017 and brings expertise in marketing and strategic planning. He is presently employed at Huber Engineered Woods where he holds the position of AdvanTech General Manager. In this role he is responsible for the development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to achieve annual profit and volume goals for an industry leading building products brand. Before Huber Engineered Woods, Jason held various project management and strategic marketing positions with The Clark Construction Group (based out of Bethesda MD) and W.R. Grace (based out of Cambridge MA). His educational experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Duke University (1999) and a Master of Business Administration from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (2006). In addition to his roles with Huber Engineered Woods and Bradford Preparatory School, Jason also serves as a volunteer youth soccer and baseball coach. Jason lives with his wife Meghan and three children (two boys and a girl) in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Kelly Loving, Vice Chair
Kelly Loving, practices law across a broad range of commercial transactions with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, technology licensing and general commercial matters. She has represented a variety of public and private companies in numerous industries, including manufacturing, telecommunications and health care, with a particular focus on technology companies. Kelly has extensive experience representing public and private companies in connection with structuring and negotiating purchases and sales of businesses in both auction and non-auction settings. She has also represented numerous parties in joint ventures and other business partnerships. She has a son in the high school at Bradford Prep.
Josh Dzyak, Treasurer
Josh joined the board in the fall of 2016 to provide assistance to the finance committee. He has bachelor degrees in accounting and business, as well as his MBA. Josh is a licensed CPA in Maryland and North Carolina and has been in public accounting for eight years. He works at Dembo Jones, P.C. as a manager where he specializes in providing tax and assurance services to individuals and non-public entities, including several non-profit schools. Josh and his wife are transplants from Maryland, and have been living in Mint Hill since 2015. Abby Byrum, SecretaryAbby.Byrum@bradfordprep.org
Abby Byrum’s background includes the areas of non-profit organizations and finances. She joined the board to serve as the Secretary. Her experience includes market research, financial reporting, and board management. Most recently, Abby served as the secretary for a local non-profit for 4 years; in that role, she was responsible for board communication and reporting of organization’s financial status. Abby has a B.A in Business Management from St. Andrews University. She is actively involved in her church and in passionate about working with the children’s ministry there. A native of Charlotte, Abby and her husband have two boys, a 6 year old who will join Bradford next year and a 3 year old.
Jeff McManus, Board Member
Jeff McManus is one of the newest members of the Board of Directors at Bradford Preparatory School, beginning his service in April 2016. He is presently employed at Clariant Corporation where he holds the position of Business Manager, North America for several business segments. Before Clariant, Jeff held multiple technical sales roles with regional chemical companies. Educational experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University (1999) and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University (2009). In addition to his roles with Clariant and Bradford Preparatory School, Jeff also serves on the Board of Directors for Mark Your Mark, an international not-for- profit focused on serving children and families in need. Jeff lives with his wife and two daughters in Harrisburg, North Carolina. Both daughters will be attending Bradford Preparatory School beginning in the fall of 2016.
Christine Button, Board Member
Gray joined the Bradford Preparatory School Board to primarily assist in the development of our facilities. He has twelve years of construction management experience with the last three spent as a Sr. Project Manager in the commercial/industrial sector. As the Project Management department head, Gray is responsible for direct oversight of all Project Managers in the firm with an emphasis on job costing and financials. A Concord native, Gray moved back to Cabarrus County after attending Appalachian State University where he studied Communications/Public Relations with a Minor in Business. He and his wife, Emily, are heavily involved in the community and are the proud parents of a 6 yr. old son and a 4 yr. old daughter.
Christine is currently a Business Systems Consultant at Wells Fargo where she manages a variety of technology initiatives for the bank. Acting as a liaison between the client and technical teams, she facilitates, directs and manages projects. She has a son in Bradford Prep’s high school.
Dennis Carwile, Board Member
Dennis is currently a Process Design Consultant for the Consumer Analytics, Testing & Data Management group for Bank of America evaluating and performing Data Management Adherence activities for the Consumer Bank. He joined Bank of America in 2010. Prior to his current role, Dennis spent several years as a Senior Project Manager and as a Consultant leading the integration of multiple systems for large conversions at Bank of America. He has specialized in Project and Program Management for over 20 years. He earned both his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and his MBA degree from Radford University. He has held his PMP certification since 2008. Dennis joined the Board of Directors in 2017 to provide assistance in the areas of finance and accounting. Dennis and his wife, Kay, have a son and a daughter that are in attendance at Bradford’s Middle and Lower schools.
Justin Griffith, Board Member
Previously a fullback for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks, Justin recently opened up a restaurant in uptown Charlotte called the Famous Toastery. In addition, he is the founder and current president of Angel Way Foundation, an organization that promotes the development of young males through character building, athletics, value systems, conflict resolution and leadership. Justin has son attending Bradford Prep.
Andrea Seymour, Board Member
Andrea Seymour is a leadership development professional for Robert Half, consulting with its global leaders on development solutions and mentorship strategies for the greater enterprise. She joined the organization in 2000, serving as Vice President, and Field Training Manager formerly. Andrea’s career progression provides a solid foundation of business consulting and service skills, strong individual leadership, and an appreciation for strategic organizational goals. She holds a Bachelors Degree from University of Tennessee, and is professionally certified in a -variety of self-awareness assessments, and professional competency-based curriculum. Andrea and her husband, Ryan, have twin daughters attending Bradford Prep’s high school.
