Nikkia Smith graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Hartford in Connecticut, where she also played Division I basketball. She later pursued graduate studies at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.—the world’s only university specifically for the Deaf, where all classes are taught in American Sign Language—and also served as a basketball coach.

Since relocating to Charlotte in 2015, Nikkia has taught in the area for more than 10 years, bringing her passion for inclusive education and student growth to the classroom. At Bradford Prep, she serves as an Exceptional Children’s (EC) teacher, working primarily with middle school students. She is excited to join the Bradford family and looks forward to supporting students in reaching their fullest potential both academically and personally.

Outside of school, Nikkia enjoys working with her animals, training in CrossFit, and spending time outdoors.
