President Roles and Responsibilities (Rising 12th Only):
- Supervise the functioning of the elected student body officers.
- Develops agenda for and presides over student government meetings, meets weekly.
- Represents the student body at events and School Board meetings.
- Meets monthly with Upper School Principal to discuss student policies, concerns and upcoming events.
Vice-President (Rising 12th Only):
- Supports the President, leads meeting when necessary & Represents Student Government at events.
- Checks in weekly w/ advisor and coordinates with Class Representatives regarding grade level activities.
- Works with the senior class representative to create the senior slide-show for graduation.
- Meets monthly w/ Upper School Vice Principal to discuss student policies, concerns and upcoming events.
Secretary (rising 11th - 12th grade):
- Takes attendance and records meeting minutes, disseminating to the team.
- Publishes reports for the student body, shares weekly minutes with the Upper School admin team.
- Meets monthly with Student Life Coordinator to stay informed and discuss upcoming events.
Treasurer (rising 11th - 12th grade):
- Manages Student Government funds and keeps financial records.
- Prepares financial reports for meetings - tracking income and expenses for events for the year.
- Meets with the school Director of Operation monthly to track funds, post online ticket sales and coordinate fundraising.
Communications/PR Director (rising 11th - 12th grade):
- Manages the Instagram account, creates promotional materials & Posts event information to keep students informed.
- Handles communication regarding Student Government meetings and keeps everyone informed.
- Meets monthly with School Communications Director to maintain consistency with online media accounts.
Class Representatives, TWO PER GRADE (rising 9th - 12th grade):
- Voice concerns and ideas from their grade level & Assist the Executive Board (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer & Communications Director) with tasks and planning.
- Help organize and support events.
Event Planners TWO PEOPLE (rising 11th - 12th grade):
- Accountable for the planning of upper school events (ex. Homecoming & Prom)
- Develops event themes and coordinates logistics for Upper School Events.
School Spirit Coordinator/The Cave Leader - 2 positions available (rising 10th - 12th grade):
- Chooses themes for games and organizes cheers, engages students at sports events to boost school spirit.
- Plans school spirit weeks, choosing themes, communicating to student body encouraging involvement.
- Works with the Communications/PR Director to communicate upcoming themes and events.
Volunteer Liaison (rising 10th - 12th grade):
- Coordinates volunteer opportunities for Student Government.
- Helps plan the Day of Service, promote student involvement & looks for ways to increase volunteerism.
New Student Ambassador Lead (rising 10th - 12th grade):
- Welcomes new students, attends open house events to connect with new students.
- Gives tours to prospective students and families, coordinates ambassador program to connect new students with current students.
Club Liaison (rising 10th - 12th grade):
- Connects Student Government with reps from Upper School clubs, meets with Student Life Coordinator
- Organizes meetings for all clubs to communicate and collaborate once/month.
ELIGIBILTIY REQUIREMENTS!!!
- Must apply to run for office by February 1, 2025
- Attend mandatory Election Meeting for all interested parties on February 3, 2025 at 3PM
- Students applying to run for office must start attending Leadership Meetings in February if not already a part of Leadership (unless unable to due to a job or athletic team practice - must have approval from Mrs. Little). Leadership currently meets on Mondays at 3PM in Room 3214 (Hubert’s Room)
- Students must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Students may not have more than 2 days of Out of School Suspensions.
