Kathy Paredi, Middle School Principal

Kathy Paredi graduated from Dowling College in New York in 1999. She began her teaching career in The Bronx, NY. She moved to NC 17 years ago. She earned her Master's Degree in Administration in 2011. Kathy has also lived in Florida for 2 years. She has taught grades 3-9 during her career. She has taught ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies at multiple grade levels. She is teaching 8th grade Science at Bradford. Kathy has led NJHS and is currently working on building a greenhouse for Bradford from water bottles. She is passionate about education. Kathy lives in Huntersville with her husband 2 dogs and youngest son (when he is home from college). She loves to cook, read, do puzzles, and spend time with her granddaughter, husband, two sons, and daughter-in-law.

There will be a quiz in Science tomorrow.

Upcoming Information

There will be a quiz tomorrow on Structures and Functions of Living Organisms. 
 
Our EOG will be Tuesday May 26, 2020. We are getting excited because we are really prepared!! Expect to see a lot of review information coming home. We have already begun review with homework assignments. 
 
Making index cards based off the EOG vocabulary and questions is a super way to continuously review and keep information fresh.

Biosphere Unit Test

I have moved the date for the Biosphere Unit Test due to the early release and delayed opening. We will have the Unit Test on Thursday 2/27/2020. It will include all of the notes in the packet. Students will receive a study guide on Monday.

This week

Students have begun presenting their cell projects. They all look so amazing! 
 
There will be a Unit Test on Tuesday next week for our Ecology unit. Please be sure that students are studying their guided notes and the quiz on the biosphere.
 
 

2/13/2020

Students have a take home project to create an edible cell. It is due 2/19/2020. There is a UNIT TEST next week on Thursday 2/20/2020.

Friday Update

I hope that this post finds everyone doing well after the storm yesterday!
 
I have sent home a new project which is due on February 19, 2020. It is to create an edible cell. Students will be learning about cells in the next unit.
 
We will also have a quiz on Thursday 2/13/2020.

Upcoming week

Fabulous Friday! We have working on our new Ecology Unit in Science. In order to connect to the Hydrosphere Unit we are beginning with ocean habitats. Please be sure to look over your student's grades for any missing work including homework.

Week of 1/27/2020 in Science

Good afternoon! Next week in Science all students will have a unit test Thursday 1/30/2020. It will be on ALL the information we have covered on the hydrosphere. This will include information from the webquest they have completed. 

Quiz

This is a reminder that we have a quiz in Science tomorrow. Students should study their guided notes from last week except for the notes on Oceans.

Please remember that the animal adaptations project is due Tuesday 1/7/20.

Holiday Break

Please be sure students have completed their animal project. Hopefully they did not leave it for the break. I hope you all have a wonderful break and a terrific New Year. I look forward to working with everyone in 2020.

Unit Test Tuesday

Please remind students to study for their Unit Test on Tuesday. They received a list of information that will be on the test in class today.
 
Project due date 1/7/20

Upcoming Test and Project

8th Grade Science will have a Unit Test on Tuesday 12/17/19. It will cover Evolution, Animal Adaptations, and Genetics.
 
Students received a take home project to create their own animal with a due date of 1/7/20. This is after the break. They should  have more than enough time to complete the project prior to break but, I wanted to be sure they had the extra time in case. Please let me know if you have any questions.
