7th Grade Asheville Trip

Trip Description: We are looking forward to taking our 7th grade students to the mountains of Western NC for a trip full of adventure, challenge activities and exploration in May!  Students will have the opportunity to tour the Biltmore, visit Antler Village and then take a short hike at Craggy Gardens on the first day. Students will then enjoy an evening of bowling and dinner before checking in at Blue Ride Assembly. In the morning, they will take on a variety of challenges at Blue Ridge Assembly.  They will also visit Grandfather Mountain for a science program, hike and a trip across the famous swinging bridge! They will have lunch at Grandfather Mountain and then head back to Bradford Prep. This trip is a true showcase of the beauty of western North Carolina!

 

Trip Dates:5/9 - 5/10

 

Destination: Asheville, NC

 

Transportation: Charter Bus

 

Accommodations: We will be at Blue Ridge Assembly

 

Food:  All meals are included in the cost of the trip. 

 

Cost of Trip: $245 for students

Deposit: $125 due by April 10th

Final Payment: $120 due by May 6th

 

The cost of the trip includes the following:

  • Charter Bus Transportation
  • Lunch at the Biltmore, Dinner and Bowling, Breakfast at Blue Ridge Assembly and lunch at Grandfather Mountain
  • Overnight accommodations at Blue Ridge Assembly
  • Challenge/Climbing activities at Blue Ridge Assembly
  • Biltmore House Tour
  • Guided tour at Grandfather Mountain including the swinging bridge
 
Please Note: Signing up for the trip is a commitment to pay for the entire trip. If you need to cancel for any reason and we are not able to fill your spot we will not be able to refund your money and you will still be liable for paying the full amount as the school will have committed the money to the vendors on the trip.

Trip Eligibility:
  1. Student must be in good academic standing.
    • Student may not be failing any classes (F1 grade – cumulative grade for the year) - grade for eligibility is F1 at end of Q3.  
  2. Students must meet the following behavior requirements:
      •  Student may not have accrued more 3 or more days of Out of School Suspension
     3. Student must meet the following attendance requirements:
      • Students may not have more than 3 unexcused absences between March 11th and May 1st.
      • Students may not have more than 5 unexcused tardies/early dismissals from March 11th and May 1st.
    4. Permission slip must be received by the due date
      • Payment must be paid on time per due dates scheduled in field trip and overnight trip information
      • Students may not have any outstanding fees due – including but not limited to technology, repairs, club dues, athletic fees, etc.

 

Parent Chaperones: 
We would love to have parent chaperones join us for the trip! If you are interested in attending, please sign up by clicking the link below by 3/22/24.  Chaperones will be selected and notified by 3/27. We will need both male and female chaperones.

Student Medications on the Trip:

Prescription Medications: The trip is a school-sanctioned activity; therefore by law, every student carrying a medication is required to have a physician-completed medication authorization form indicating the name of the medication, need for the medication, dosage, time(s) of administration.  The form and the meds must be turned into the nurse by May 7, 2024. OTC Meds: Over the counter meds may be brought with a note from the parent.  Students should only bring enough for the trip and again meds should be turned into the nurse by May 7, 2024.

 

Packing List: 

  • Sleeping bag or sheets and blanket (Bedding must be packed in a bag)
  • Pillow (Bedding must be packed in a bag)
  • An outfit for the second day (inc underwear and socks)
  • Sweatshirt(s)
  • Toiletries 
  • Jacket
  • Rain jacket or poncho
  • Pajamas 
  • Snacks for the bus and refillable water bottle
What Not to Bring:
  • Electronics
  • Phones, mp3 players, iPods, gaming devices
  • Money (no more than a few dollars to buy a snack if desired on the way back)\
  • Smart watches
  • Pocket Knives (no knives of any kind)
  • Candy or Gum
